11″ x 14″ textured acrylic painting
I am in a gritty mood…that is for sure. The grungier, the better. Last night I worked on three small canvas’ creating distressed textural backgrounds in preparation for some saintly portraits. This morning I finished this painting with my first cup of coffee and I love how it turned out.

This piece is titled: Black-Eyed Blossoms. The title came to me as I put the black dots in each flower. It is a super grungy tree representing the new life that Spring brings.

Here is an interesting fact: I scraped the lines into the leaves with a nail that came out of the siding of my house when the window was put in! The nails looked square, rusty, and handmade…so cool.

If you look very carefully you will see that this painting was done over a different one I had been working on with some collage elements.

Acrylic on 30″ X 20″ X 1.5″ wrapped canvas

I decided to continue on with my red chair portrait theme. This lady even has a red hat!

I didn’t do this intentionally…but, it looks kind-of like she is at the beach even with the room features in place.
The text in the window is from a book titled Naomi by Mrs. J. B. Webb dated 1890.

I am still incorporating hands and feet (a recent goal of mine).

This painting is done on a piece of poplar plywood and measures about 16″ X 14″ X .75″. The sides are white and have been lightly sanded for a shabby look. There will be a sawtooth hanger on the back.
