The Red Guitar

015

This painting sat incomplete on my wall for a couple months. I called it The Red Guitar because of the guitar shaped red blotch.

Why must we always search for a familiar object or form within an abstract painting?…Or it is that we cannot help but see them?

Anyways, even though I added the women (which then become subjects thus calling for my attention while considering a title),  I chose to keep The Red Guitar.

I like how this turned out. I really enjoy abstract painting…just pushing paint around and playing with the composition.

Rubbish

Ahhh..I finally did it! I stopped when I really wanted to. For quite some time now I have been working on what I was calling “backgrounds”. I would create an interesting, often distressed surface with the intention of painting an angel over the top. As much as I love painting angels, sometimes I felt that the backgroud was so pretty as-is and really disliked the thought of doing anything more to it. This is one of those pieces!
