Working on a show…
Saturday, 6 February 2010

Yesterday I received a phone call from the Harnett County Arts Council reminding me I had a show in March.
This took me by surprise…I remembered having a conversation several months back about doing a show but I guess when I left the building that day, I never thought about it again.
I decided that although I HAVE NO PAINTINGS TO SHOW, I would go for it. So, I have between now and March 5th to come up with a complete body of work. It just so happens I had recently gotten a shipment of canvas in the mail and was already planning on going on a painting binge of sorts…so, this works well.
The painting above is a work-in-progress of the first painting for my show.
Inspired by Michelangelo’s The Jesse Spandrel 1512

I liked the seated position and am still challenging myself with hands…those awkward hands…
If you are so inclined, please pray for me as I immerse myself in the artistic process. I need inspiration and I pray to glorify my Father.

Wow, I am so excited- I live near Harnett County and can’t wait to see your paintings. Good luck with getting all the paintings completed.

Hey Jane – you go for it!
Will pray for you – that God will inspire you with His visions, that you will reproduce on them on canvas, that in return they will glorify him and carry his message.
And how fortunate are we that we might get to see them here too!

OMG, Jane I love this painting!
Congratulations on your show I can’t wait to hear about it on your blog! I know it will be a success and as prolific a painter as you are you will have plenty to show! This is so exciting!

Hi Jane,
Just a quick question–I can’t seem to go “back” on your blog page to see your previous entries for each month. Maybe you did this on purpose though
Is there a way to go “back” that maybe I’ve missed?

Oh Jane I just love this first piece for the show! I am nervous just hearing about it…I think that is so courageous. It seems like we painters are a bit solitary and it is hard to step out there. I am definitely sending the powerful act of prayer your way!

Monique, I am glad you let me know about the past post thing..I didn’t realize things were set up like that. I am going to have to look at the blog settings and such. I see the Archives don’t pull up correctly either.

This is my very favorite part of the Sistine Chapel. How wonderful it inspired you. I just found your blog and am so enjoying your paintings.
Happy days,
