Work In Progress: Woman In Scarf

If you know me even a little, you have probably heard me say I love work in progress photos. There is something so wonderful about the journey from a blank canvas to a finished painting…and many of the stops along the way are just as interesting to me as the final destination.

These are two different women. The woman on the top almost has a slight smile. She seems aware of her surroundings and is content in the situation. The next woman is a bit younger, only sitting for a portrait because maybe she was told to do so and not quite there in the moment, but thinking of something else. They are both very beautiful, but very different.

Well put…She has change even more since those photos…that always happens. Seems there are many transformations before I stop.

I absolutely LOVE to watch YOUR work in progress! I can remember when you did that video of the painting for the clinic you said your sister is a midwife at (or at least I think that’s what you had said) Anyway it was beautiful, a woman with little children reaching up to her. You would get to a stage where I thought it was perfect and I’d be screaming at the monitor for you to STOP, but you continued on (you of course, knew better) and when you finished, I just sat there in awe.
I played that over and over and over. It was amazing!

Oh yes..I know the video you are talking about. =) That was for my sister’s midwifery clinic. I wonder if I will ever paint “less” ….I mean less layers…

I can’t believe it is the same painting. She is beautiful. I hope you haven’t touched that purple scarf…it is perfect. Really the entire painting looks finished to me. I love the softness of her face and the background.
