Forestlife Creations: Dean Robertson
Saturday, 30 January 2010

Every once in awhile I like to feature other artists on this blog…
Dean Robertson is an old friend of mine. He is highly creative and, like me, has a love for taking what others throw away and turning it into something beautiful.

Here’s what Dean says:
Hey, this is Dean. My creations are handmade, inspired by the voices within the wood and bone. I hold the material and it speaks to me telling me how to reveal its hidden secrets. The wood I use is mostly reclaimed from the recycle bin at our school, and various firewood piles, and much of the bone comes from when I still lived in Alaska living the hunting and gathering life. Not even the bones get wasted with me…
. . . I first started carving wood and bone living deep in the forests of Alaska, where I learned the ways of the Wilds, and the Native Americans. I learned how to walk…I learned how to hear…I learned how to feel. It’s a different way of life…It is the beginnings of life…It is my reality…I will always walk…I will always share…

He also makes pretty things for your hair!

Dean is a neat guy. I remember back in the day his pockets were always full of goodies and found items. He has always found value in such things. Now he is making beautiful jewelry and I trust the the craftsmanship is top notch!
