Princess
Wednesday, 29 April 2009
I finally got some work (art) done! I had been busy learning how to tile, recovering from 2 days of squatting and lifting, and then spending time organizing the discussion on my website.
It felt good to complete a painting. The angel above reminds me of the angel below…

This is Carolina, my niece. You met Evangeline a few posts back. Look at that smile! Isn’t she something? She always smiles like that and sometimes it is hard to tell what she says when she speaks because, she talks with a big smile on her face and her words get pronounced funny. So darn sweet. She wants to be a princess when she grows up.
Big Thanks To Christy!

After I spent about an hour trying to do-it-myself, Christy from Average American Girl helped me install Google Friend Connect in the sidebar of my site here!
Christy is not only a mixed media artist, she is a web designer/developer who knows her stuff!
Stop by her blog if you have a moment and check it out.
An Interview With mytinystudio
Saturday, 25 April 2009
Have you met Rafael from mytinystudio?

I have had the honor of getting to know him a little and would like to share a brief interview he so graciously conceded to.

So…
Where do you reside?
I live in Beautiful, sunny, beach weather (some shaking now and then) Los Angeles, California.
2. Tell us about your name, mytinystudio, and how you came up with it.
Years ago I use to sell polymer clay fairies in art & craft fairs. I had one customer that would place custom orders on a regular basis.
She had always wanted to see my workplace, but I kept telling her that it was just my room, nothing fancy. Well one day she came to pick up one of her orders. She came in and the first thing she said was, “OHH! you do have a little studio”, and of course my response was, “Yes this is my tiny studio”
I know that she didn’t say that to offend me because I had known her for a little over year by then.

3. What are your favorite mediums to work with?
I enjoy working in so many different mediums. I am happy to use a great deal of materials from polymer clay, fabrics, vintage photos and others. I do like going from art, fabric, book and stationary shops and finding new and exciting materials to use in my different mediums.

4. How long have you been an artist…all your life? Or did you move into it as an adult?
I don’t remember when I wasn’t surrounded by art. As a child and now as an adult there have been wonderful people that have taught me new ways in which I express myself in different art forms.

5. What keeps you inspired and coming up with new ideas?
Books, movies, museums, theatrical plays and some of my fantastic, magical dreams. I think that inspiration can be found in everything that surrounds you or lives in your imagination.

6. Is there a message you would like to convey with your art?
The only thing that I hope my art conveys is that it is OK to let your imagination take flight.

7. What can we expect to see from you this year…or do you think that far ahead?
You can expect me to concentrate on the quality of each piece, so I would hope you may think of each creation as an art piece.

He has lots of neat stuff to offer on EBAY and ETSY too!

Angel In Training
Friday, 24 April 2009

Last night Evangeline sat on my lap while I painted this. She can sit still on my lap for hours. I believe she is going to be a great artist because she shows such a natural ability already and she has so much patience and focus while watching me paint. I hope you can understand what she is saying…it’s just so stinkin sweet!
It is like a CAVE in my studio. I am really needing some light!
