Making Soft Block Linocut Prints

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRf1c_0SG-I]

Update…Next morning…

Good morning everyone! Thanks so much for your encouraging comments. How fun to see such enthusiasm+++

I wanted to talk about that Speedball ink I used. The wrapper of the soft block I carved in said USE WITH WATERBASED PRODUCTS and that ink was OIL based. I do not know what the long term effects of mixing the two will be…AND the OIL based ink is still not dry this morning so if you use it, plan on giving it a day or 2 to cure. Also, it has to be cleaned up with mineral spirits.

Faith Folk Cafe Featured Me Today

What an honor! I am the Featured Artist over at FAITH FOLK CAFE. They made me feel so special.

Today was just one of those days…I think I have been hung-over from the ginormous $6 piece of dark chocolate decadence cake I ate yesterday. I was about 4 or 5 days off of bad sugars and I gave in! I didn’t even see it coming…I was feeling pretty good and making really healthy eating choices. Then…I passed by a dessert display case and got weak in the knees. These cakes were ART! Usually, I would not recommend eating art…BUT, well…you get the idea. I do not handle sugar well (it gives me headaches, makes me irritable, depressed, and cravey), but I am addicted and find it incredibly difficult to give up.  I know I will eventually overcome. I’ve gotten over much worse.

OK! All that to say, I was not feeling well today. But, when I saw the post on FAITH FOLK CAFE my spirits were lifted! What a warm welcome and a lovely layout! That music was very beautiful too. Three cheers for Mystele! Thanks again.

Tascha Showing The Love

Here’s something totally new!

I went by TASCHA’S BLOG today and saw a great picture of her with a towel on her head.

Inspiration struck me with a blow and I HAD to paint her! She is much prettier in the actual photo and I could make a big list of things that “should” be different…but I won’t go there. Thank you so much Tascha.

Dyeing Fabric With Rust

Part 1

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdDvNsr7JvE]

It took me 3 days of recording to do these 2 videos. I ended up with way too much footage and had to chop it up quite a bit and squeeze it into 2 parts…had troubles with my computer…and I don’t really know if the tutorial is easy to follow…all that editing has gotten to my brain…or maybe it was the rust…

Part 2

Good news is, I am getting excited about offering my first workshop. I have some really fun ideas (but I won’t share them yet). I promise they will be easier to follow than this last lesson…
