R2RD Group Launch Starts TODAY!

 I am a proud member of the ebay art doll group called “Rags To Riches Dolls” and today (Sunday the 27th) is our Group Launch Day with the theme “Days Gone By”. This means that many members of the group will be posting handcrafted art dolls on ebay today with the same theme! There is so much talent in this group of doll makers…be sure to look for them by searching R2RD on ebay.

Here is my entry The Bird Keeper.  She is made from cloth and clay and measures about 13.5″ head to toe.

I also have a fun Mother’s Day Doll Set I just listed yesterday…

Art That Makes Me Smile

I purchased this little antique print the other day because it makes me smile. She has such an “alive-ness” about her and when I look at her I cannot help but grin…

She is hung to the right of me while I work to keep me company…

Tall Angel Doll

Meet Ann:

She is 20″ tall and her wings are 8″ wide.

I have been wrestling through the process of sculpting doll faces. Two out of four have made it to completion…Now everytime I look at someone, I am noticing where their cheekbones are or how far apart their eyes are, etc. Last night someone was talking to me and I barely heard anything they said…I was most concerned with how their facial features all tied together. Of course, this process makes me think of our Creator and how he concerns himself with every little detail…

And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Matthew 10:30

 For you created my inmost being;
       you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
       your works are wonderful,
       I know that full well.

Psalm 139: 13-14

Angels In Green

20″ X 24″ cuppoard door acrylic collage painting

“…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

Last night was horrible. I ended up throwing away 2 dolls I had been working on and painting black over a painting that would not turn out right…I went to bed wanting to cry. I felt discouraged and wondered if all inspiration would go downhill from here on out…I had bad dreams all night and woke up later than usual a bit confused…BUT, as I drank my coffee and got focussed on what I had to do today, I decided to do a cuppoard door painting of three angels in green. As I painted I felt hope returning and when I was done, I knew my inspiration was not gone! Thank you God for the strength you continue to give me. Your grace IS SUFFICIENT!

My first cloth & clay doll!

OK, call me crazy…2 posts in one day…I just had to share this doll I finished this morning. Thank you, my doll making friends, for the tips. I think she turned out grand. Her name is Cecelia.

This is pretty much my first try at any kind of sculpting with clay. I did take a pottery class as an elective years back so I understood how water played an important part… The doll measures 12″ head to toe.

It was so much fun, but very difficult as well…those tiny facial features are difficult to form. I am looking forward to doing some more…
