For The Love of Color

These paintings are part of a series of encaustics I did titled: For The Love of Color.

Oils and beeswax create color and depth like no other.

When working with this medium (oil paint, hot wax, and heat) it is important to have a well ventilated workspace. Now that it is warming up outside I can open my windows and doors do more encaustic painting!

Ooo! Poppies!

I have done several variations of this landscape floral arrangement…this time it is with encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin) and oil paint! What fun! Have a look-see at the yummy texture…

New Encaustics

025

Before the trip to Missouri, I had my encaustic supplies out and was experimenting with color and layering again but I just couldn’t get anything to look “right”. So, I left my studio a mess and went on my way. When I returned, sure enough my encaustic work station (2 saw horses and a wide plank of wood) was still there just the way I left it and I really wanted to finish what I had started.

Thankfully, last night things came together and I was able to complete 3 half done pieces. I love the rich textures and am happy with the way they turned out.

Sometimes if we walk away from a frustrating situation and give it some time we can gain a new perspective, right?

You can find them on EBAY tonight.
