New Spakowsky Print & A Sale!

About a month ago my sister and I disassembled the paintings we have that our father, Michael Spakowsky, did. I took some great photos of the original paintings and sent them in for print proofs. The results were fabulous so I sent some to dad and told him I could try to sell some online if he wanted. He was very impressed with the prints and said, “go for it!”.

The painting above is my dad’s workshop from when I was a child. It was a shed outside the house on Vashon Island where he spent much time thinking and painting. I remember standing right there by that wood stove, barely tall enough to see what he was doing. Still, I loved being there and admired him so much.

I’ve added his prints to my etsy shop and all the profit goes directly to him. We’ve decided to do a sale along with the announcement of this new print. Between now and Sunday, his framed prints are only $65 each! They make a very nice collection. Please have a look.

Industrial Angels

32" x 14.5"

I’ve been having fun collaging with all this neat imagery! I am going to be working super hard to offer new art every day for awhile…so, if you are a collector (or want to start), this would be a good time to follow my work. I will probably be offering most of it on ebay.

32.5" x 12.5"

Ha ha ha! Tell me what is “wrong” with the piece above….I did something funny without realizing it until it was kind of too late.

What I’ve been up to…

28" x 7.5" plank

I know I haven’t been writing much on my blog for quite some time…and I am slow to answer emails…and slow to send packages off.  Life is busy as usual, but I’ve got quite the side project going on.

If you are my friend on facebook, you probably already know this…

I have rented a little studio downtown Lillington where I will be working, teaching, and using the storefront as a gallery. While all this is very exciting, there is so much to do. It has kept my mind and hands quite busy. I hope to open shop by the end of August.

I have moved all my supplies to the back of “the cave” and have begun working on art. I miss my window and the view of my yard, but it is pretty easy to be focused on what I’m doing without the distractions of home. I don’t have internet there yet either so I am not reaching for my laptop all the time. I actually like it like that, but I’m sure I will get internet soon. I’ll need it for business.

I’m looking for artists who would like to participate in the new studio. I will be buying art to resell, offering consignment terms, and looking for instructors in the area who would like to make money sharing what they know about any artistic medium or process.

I am also hoping to offer a workshop for folks online to come and take. It would be so fun to get a group of online friends to come stay for a long weekend and play together.

Please keep me in your prayers. I need strength and direction and as always, God’s blessing.

Textured Surfaces Video Now Available!

Whoop whoop! I finished a new video tutorial for y’all~

What you get:

Access to a private blog where you will find my new video and photos of sample surfaces for a closer look.

A 43 minute video of me demonstrating my TOP TEN WAYS OF CREATING A TEXTURED SURFACE to work on. The supplies are not terribly costly. The techniques are simplistic yet are able to add a new degree of depth to your artwork.

*If you took the Creative Textures class with Maureen White and I, you probably will not find anything new here. I share many of the same techniques and consider this the “condensed version”.

Hope to see you there!
