Archives for the ‘Abstract’ Category

Lots on ebay right now…

including some killer abstracts (in my humble opinion).

24" x 36"

I’ve had some fun with texture and colors over the last week.

18" x 24"

I also cut up my ink drawings and collaged them to canvas. Sooo dramatic!

11" x 14"

Come CHECK THEM OUT ON EBAY~

Ooo! Poppies!

I have done several variations of this landscape floral arrangement…this time it is with encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin) and oil paint! What fun! Have a look-see at the yummy texture…

11″ X 14″ X 1.5″ encasutic on cradled board

This will be on EBAY tonight. I also put an abstract encaustic floral in my rarely-used etsy shop (see sidebar for a peek).

New Encaustics

025

Before the trip to Missouri, I had my encaustic supplies out and was experimenting with color and layering again but I just couldn’t get anything to look “right”. So, I left my studio a mess and went on my way. When I returned, sure enough my encaustic work station (2 saw horses and a wide plank of wood) was still there just the way I left it and I really wanted to finish what I had started.

Thankfully, last night things came together and I was able to complete 3 half done pieces. I love the rich textures and am happy with the way they turned out.

Sometimes if we walk away from a frustrating situation and give it some time we can gain a new perspective, right?

You can find them on EBAY tonight.

The Red Guitar

015

This painting sat incomplete on my wall for a couple months. I called it The Red Guitar because of the guitar shaped red blotch.

Why must we always search for a familiar object or form within an abstract painting?…Or it is that we cannot help but see them?

Anyways, even though I added the women (which then become subjects thus calling for my attention while considering a title),  I chose to keep The Red Guitar.

I like how this turned out. I really enjoy abstract painting…just pushing paint around and playing with the composition.
