A Lovely Saturday

July 31, 2010 North Carolina

Yesterday was fun. Our family went to Jerry’s Artarama for canvas and paint, stopped by a killer Farmer’s Market, and had sushi!

My husband, Steven, has been enjoying our Canon Rebel. He took lots of neat photos on our drive back and I particularly like the ones below.

Then late that night, we put up some peg board in “the cave”…I mean, Main Street Studio. I think I am going to go down there tonight and paint it gray or something because the polka-dots are blinding.

It was nice to get out and about…AND get something done at the studio!

Michael Spakowsky Watercolor Painting Lesson

For Father’s Day today I have dug up the watercolor lesson I recorded with my father, Michael Spakowsky, a few years back. Some of you may remember it…

He came to visit me in Spokane, WA. We did some singing on the front porch and I talked him into letting me record him giving an art lesson.

You will not be able to find out much about him online. He lives on Vashon Island in Washington. He is well known in the Northwest but he doesn’t do much to promote himself. He mostly sells his paintings by word of mouth directly from his small house tucked back in the woods where he works and lives.

I hope to be able to offer some of his work from my new studio/gallery that I am working on…perhaps then I could introduce his art to folks online.

Please enjoy these videos. Happy Father’s Day!

New prints~ Old video

Jan 2009 Valentines Trio

I went back through some of my older artwork looking for high resolution images that I could use to make prints with and found a few good ones. Unfortunately, most of my images have been resized for the internet and cannot be reproduced.

I also found a video of me working on the painting above. It’s just Jacob and I chatting while I paint. He’s telling me about what he sees…I am obviously trying to concentrate on my painting rather than the discussion because I am doing that annoying repeat-back-the-last-thing-he says thing in attempts to stay engaged in the conversation and keep him thinking about things.

I really like this one too.

You can find these and a few other ON EBAY now.

And the winner of the decaying flower print is….
